There are actually so many good options -- it was so hard to choose. Linux distro choice is always a matter of debate (again, some things never change!)
Maybe its just my 10 year old Dell laptop, but track pad performance is awful with Linux Mint and every other distro I tried. Here it is 2025 and Linux in some ways it still feels like a toy operating system. I don't see it becoming more widespread until nagging driver issues are behind us. Windows is and will be the gold standard for many years to come.
I used to tinker around with Linux back in the day and Mint was always my fave distro. Some things never change! :-)

Yep... That complexity keeps many people away (including me in my old age!).
